Discover a whole new world of artistic possibility when you remove the boundaries of the canvas or substrate and string your pieces together like words in a sentence. We will make individual prints using the gel plate*, hand-carved foam plates, and OPEN acrylic paints on Masa paper. Each print is a part of a whole, not a whole image, and you can mix and match to your delight! You will make many prints in order to generate a plethora of possibilities when it comes to putting them together.
This class is open to those with some experience with gel plate printing. Jane will not be demonstrating the basics; you can find loads of tutorials online at the GelliArts website and blog, or download her Monoprint Collage class here: http://janedaviesstudios.com/workshops/online-workshops/
*synthetic gelatin printing plate, available from various manufacturers.

“Exceeded my expectations. Instructor very “hands on” and took care to work closely with each of us. Her instructions were very clear which works well for me. I love good instruction.”
About Jane Davies
Jane Davies is a full time artist working in collage, painting, and encaustic. She offers workshops at her studio and nationwide, focusing on helping people to find a personal and playful approach to art.
Beginning as a potter in the early nineties, selling her colorful hand-painted ceramics at craft shows, Jane gradually transitioned into freelance art, designing tableware, fabric, paper goods, stationery, and other products, using painting and collage as her medium. For the past several years, Jane has put most of her efforts towards teaching, writing, and making art.
Jane believes that making art is a journey with very few hand-holds and only a general road map. Each participant has to find his or her own way, while at the same time remain open to learning from others. While she may teach a multitude of techniques, her focus is on the back-and-forth play of spontaneity and intention that characterizes the creative process. Jane tries to pave the way into that precarious I-don’t-know-what-to-do-next zone, where you are challenged to forge a personal path, with guidance, to discover the satisfaction of making art that is truly your own. Cultivating a degree of comfort, or at least willingness, with that awkward territory of not-knowing, is one of the keys to finding your creative edge.
