As a fine art medium, pastel has few limitations. Through daily demonstrations, individual attention, and classroom discussions this ‘en plein air’ and studio workshop will expand your potential for personal expression. Numerous wet and dry procedures, as well as surface choices, will be applied to the painting of the landscape in pastel. Students are encouraged to work outside of their comfort zone as they explore these creative possibilities.

Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and Hall of Fame Honoree, Richard McKinley has taught for Hudson River Valley Art Workshops since 2009 and feels that it provides the perfect venue for the exploration of all that pastel has to offer the landscape artist. He is a dedicated instructor, has a wealth of information to share, is tireless in this pursuit and his intensity, focus, and energy are legendary.
