Build a small village incorporating ideas from your own hometown or following ideas from Sue’s Homegrown book. You can build your quilt using small 5” house blocks or use a larger layered background to incorporate your town. The houses will incorporate piecing, cotton and wool appliqué and freeform stitching.
About Sue Spargo
Sue Spargo is a self taught textile folk artist and designer whose lush and rich work with wool, a needle and thread inspires so many. Born in Zambia, Sue grew up in South Africa and lived in England as a young adult before moving to the United States in 1989. She credits her artistry to her father, who encouraged her creative pursuits and allowed her to explore many mediums, and her love of fabric to her mother, who got her interested in sewing as a child.
