Learn to paint figures in an everyday environment using color and light to organize space and tell a story.

In recent years, Sally has been borrowing and building on classical art principles, painting contemporary views of her personal world. Benchmarks for her are clear shapes and color harmonies. In this class, the emphasis will include composition, exploring light effects and manipulating value key ranges for mood. Demos will be in pastel, but they will not be our primary focus. The class is open to all painting media.

  • Learn to capture the light with color on boldly designed figure compositions.
  • Learn to distinguish between compositions that work and those that are less effective.
  • Learn to see the big picture by painting shape relationships instead of details.
