Based on David Hornung’s textbook Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers, this class provides a deeper understanding of color and the confidence to use it in your work. With the guidance of the instructor, students make a sequence of practical studies that reveal color structure, its relational behavior and useful strategies for color application that you can bring back to your own studio practice. Classwork is augmented by illustrated lectures, demonstrations and critique. This informative and relaxed course is an excellent choice for painters, textile artists, graphic designers and anyone who makes two-dimensional art.

 

About David Hornung

David Hornung is a painter and collage artist whose work has been widely exhibited. He is the author of Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers (Laurence King Pub Ltd.), a textbook that has been translated into six languages and is used in art schools and private studios around the world. Over the course of a long career David has held teaching positions at Indiana University, Skidmore College, and The Rhode Island School of Design. He is currently a professor at Adelphi University where he teaches courses in color theory, design, collage, and painting.
