Interpreting Photographs to Create Exciting Oil Paintings
Oil: February 5-11
All Levels
Outdoor and Studio Class

Howard Rose is a highly acclaimed painter and photographer. He teaches both oil painting and photography. Howard graduated from The School of Visual Arts, New York City, and did post-graduate studies at C.W. Post College and the New School of Social Research for Painting and Photography. Howard also studied with Alfred Chadbourne, Charles Sovek, Ovenes Berberian, and Matt Smith. His articles and instruction techniques have been published in numerous publications, such as Artist’s Magazine. About his painting technique, the artist feels that “each new painting is an adventure. I never know where each painting is going to take me, but in every painting I strive for good design, simple painting techniques, and bright color.” In this unique workshop you will get the opportunity to learn how to capture plein air values using photography and sketching and then bring it back to the studio to transform into winter landscape oil paintings. Photograph the majesty of winter and turn those photographs into winter landscape oil paintings in the comfort of the Carriage House Art Studio.
