In this unique workshop you will get the opportunity to learn how to capture plein air values using photography and sketching and then bring it back to the studio to transform into winter landscape oil paintings. Photograph the majesty of winter and turn those photographs into winter landscape oil paintings in the comfort of the Carriage House Art Studio.
"We will photograph outside. It is very important to photograph for paintings as if photographing for only pretty shots. We will learn what to look for in photographing for paintings, design, shapes, where to put the horizon, shadows, subject, etc. We will then go into the studio and transfomr the photos into a painting learning what to leave in and what to take out. We will look at color changes, not believing in the photo because colors are different in real life, in the shadows, in the sky, in the subject and so on. We will work with a limited pallete of 6 colors and work so we can finish a painting in 3 hours. Not that that is so important but leaving out details makes for a more exciting painting."
