Betsy is a teacher who stresses strong design and creative use of color. Through demonstrations and individual guidance, she helps her students to explore a variety of techniques and achieve stronger personal statements. "In this workshop on day one, we will meet in the studio to discuss different plein air sketching techniques, what makes a good sketch, how much information do you need, etc. and then go out for the morning in cars in groups to gather reference sketches.  Back at the studio after lunch,  we will look at the sketches and I will demonstrate a studio painting from a plein air sketch.  Afterwards, time permitting, students will begin painting from their own sketches.  The following two days we will spend gathering sketches each morning or in the studio developing compositions from the first day's sketches.  Often the same scene, with different weather conditions can be very fun to explore." Betsy will work with each student in the studio on their individual needs.
