"Expect surprise and discovery in this workshop. Using a mixture of acrylic soft gel and fine pumice gel as the ‘glue’, your mixed media collages will develop in layer over layer of materials and techniques using an intuitive and spontaneous process. No oil-based media will be used, but anything and everything else is welcome: pencil, marker, crayon, pastel, ink, acrylic paint, and any acrylic products, i.e. gesso, molding paste, glazing liquid, tar gel, etc. Processes will include image transfer techniques, simple hand printing with acrylic paints, resists & masks, stitching, lacing, weaving and attachment of objects (buttons, rusty washers, crushed bottle caps, anything!) Outdoors we will sketch and/or paint directly from the landscape; you may also bring a digital camera and we will make copies of your photos via computer printer or photocopier and use them for the image transfers. If you already have winter landscape inspired drawings, paintings or photos, bring them. Indoors we will create the finished mixed media collages. Basic concepts will be addressed in critique sessions: composition, color, texture, line, shape, content, etc. This workshop is very adaptable to individual styles and is suitable for everyone – from beginner to professional artist."
