Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, Greenville, New York

Greenville Arms 1889 Inn has been home to the Hudson River Valley Art Workshops since 1982, offering creative workshops in watercolor painting, oil painting, acrylic painting, pastel, drawing and collage and provides lodging, delicious food and a comfortable setting. The inn has 15 elegant rooms and an art studio. Meals are enjoyed together in a relaxing setting.

The Carriage House Art Studio, part of the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, is a spacious facility for indoor classes, while the surrounding landscape of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River provide the setting for outdoor (plein air) classes. The Carriage House Art Studio is open 24 hours, giving ample opportunity to paint, draw, create and work.

The Hudson River Valley Art Workshops' all-in-one environment encourages artists to relax, focus on their creativity, and get to know one another. Meals are enjoyed together, class size is limited, and the Studio is open 24 hours a day. The schedule of instructors changes annually, to provide a diverse, exciting choice.

Hudson River Valley Art Workshops
announces a new
Winter Art Workshop Series

For the second time, the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, home to the Hudson River Valley Art Workshops, will be open during the Winter. Kim LaPolla, Director of the Art Workshops Program, and Mark LaPolla, Chef de Cuisine, decided that the beauty of the Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains in Winter was something everyone should have the chance to enjoy and appreciate.

The Carriage House Art Studio has been insulated and central heat installed in the studio and all of the guest rooms in the Carriage House and Cottages.

The Winter Art Workshop classes focus on the beauty of the winter landscape. They are designed to allow you to have fun exploring the beauty of winter and the delight of creating winter landscapes without getting frostbite. Learn different techniques for plein air and studio painting that are sure to add to your creativity, sharpen your technique and keep you from freezing!.

Our award winning instructors will show you how to use sketching (both quick outdoor sketching or from the warmth of your car), photography, and other techniques to capture the beautiful winter landscapes that can then be taken back to the warm art studio to be translated into paintings.

Our art workshop packages includes tuition and lodging in one of the gracious and comfortable rooms of the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, our historic Upstate New York bed and breakfast inn. Also included in the packages are breakfast and a three-course dinner. This all-in-one location art workshop environment allows you to relax and enjoy the beautiful inn grounds and the camaraderie of your fellow artists.
