Atmospheric Watercolor

Jun 30 - Jul 6, 2019

Medium: Watercolor

Level: All Levels

5-Day Studio Class

The goal of this workshop is to provide an opportunity to create quick and convincing atmospheric watercolor sketches of the urban environment and nature, using the diversity of watercolor possibilities and observing the elusive balance of forces that create beauty in painting.

Michael will focus on how to paint luminous watercolors by manipulating tonal values, color, and edge. In addition to daily demos, Michael will share personal secrets and techniques that allow you to create an impressive emotional watercolor. You will discover simple techniques for painting stormy and clear skies, dramatic and realistic clouds, sunsets, trees and a lot of other elements of nature. Discover how to weave these natural elements into the urban environment to bring life and emotion in cityscapes.

You become acquainted with the process for creating expressive and dynamic paintings with a fresh and contemporary feel. You will also learn how to combine different methods and materials, such as an ink pen to achieve the magical effects that are possible in watercolor painting. Special attention will also be paid to working with Chinese brushes and the amazing opportunities that it brings to watercolor.

Each day Michael will share advanced painting techniques to create atmosphere, balance, and unity in your work. You can expect plenty of individual attention and helpful demonstrations all the time.
