With the beautiful Catskill Mountain region as inspiration, this 3-day workshop will focus on simplifiing and organizing shapes to build a strong composition that captures each painter's emotional response to the landscape. 

Participants will work on gathering and editing visual information, in the form of quick value and color sketches, as well as exploring the use of creative color. There will be two demonstrations and daily individual instruction on oil technique.

Elizabeth Apgar-Smith is a painter who works and teaches in oil, pastel and watercolor.  Her work has been featured in art magazines and included in numerous books on painting technique.  She maintains a studio and gallery in Schoharie, NY.
